Ireland 5/11/2013

Last night we were at a ”heritage”pub”, whatever that is. Music began at 7:00. The first floor was packed like sardines. I was making my way through the crowd with two pints of Guinness when a young man remarked, with an incredulous  tone to his voice, “Guinness in Cork!” You see Guinness is made in Dublin and Murphy’s is made in Cork.  You should always drink the local drink.

Four couples rode together today, making sure we knew how to get out of town. And we found a very easy way to do it. The weather was a challenge, changing every 10 minutes.  As storms blew in and then over, we would go from rain to sun and back to rain.  The only constant seemed to be the wind.

2013-05-11 10.52.54The River Lee runs through Cork, split into a North Branch and a South Branch.  The water runs pretty fast.  Cork is a sea port but you have to navigate more than 10 miles up river to reach the docks.
