Last night we had a great dinner at the Blue Haven Hotel in Kinsale. Good/great food in Ireland is a well-kept secret which I discovered over 20 years ago. This is particularly true along the coast with its fresh seafood. And the chefs really know how to cook it.
We surprised ourselves to still be at the restaurant at 9:30 when the Naill McCabe Band began. Traditional Irish music this was not. The first few pieces we heard were by Arlo Guthrie, James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, The Steve Miller Band and The Beatles. But it was a really good band and we stayed way past our bedtime.
There will be seven couples on the tandem bike tour but only three in Kinsale. We did almost everything together yesterday; this morning we went our own ways.
Brenda and I went to the other historical tour and I was delighted to see Don was leading the tour. I told him I first attended one of his tours 21 years ago when he was just getting started. And his tour, which wove together geology. politics and world history, was as good as I had remembered. In fact, the tours I used to conduct of the Dallas Arts District are also based on history; this idea probably came from hearing Don many years ago. Don and I are shown to the left.
Brenda and I had lunch together; then joined the other two couples for a harbor cruise.
