SF:SD Santa Cruz to Monterey Bay

P1000950Today was cloudy and foggy.  Not cold but not conducive to photos. Are we entered Monterrey Bay the sun came out but with heave city traffic, bike paths and questionable turns to the inn, I wasn’t in the mood to stop and take pictures.  Even though the Warf probably had some good photos.

Yesterday, the traffic on Highway 1 wasn’t too bad, especially for Sunday. I expected less traffic today but was surprised to find it MUCH worse than yesterday. We had a wide shoulder but the trucks and cars  at high speeds were relentless.  ---  ‘Read about the new 85 mph speed limit between Austin and San Antonio.  Is the Texas highway department crazy?

Most of the terrain today was flat. This is an agriculture area. We say strawberries (being picked), artichoke, spinach, asparagus, cabbage and others which we couldn’t identify.  They say it never freezes here so many crops, including asparagus and strawberries grow year round and produce multiple crops.

Photo on left. Yesterday, Brenda promised “naked Ladies”, neglecting to tell me these were flowers.

Photo on right. Brenda and I lead a BAC tour in the Texas Hill Country called “The Whole Enchilada”.  So we were amused to see the name of this restaurant near Molera, Ca.
