Frisco, Colorado goes “all out” on the fourth. Main street is totally shut down. The day begins with a pancake breakfast. It seems as if the whole town is there. The sausage is “unique” – it has the consistency as steak – but is very good.
There is a parade, children’s bike ride and three free concerts. The fireworks display over Lake Dillon has been cancelled because of fire hazards.
But everyone stays downtown for the food and frivolities. Cloud cover makes the 72 degree temperature pleasant.
We, along with friends Lou and Elaine Stephens go for a hike to Shriners Pass. We must have been at least 11,000 elevation.
Like every place else in the US, Colorado has experienced an early and warm spring. So the expected snow and wildflowers (see above) are scarce.
